What a fantastic way to keep cool in the sunshine! Starfish Class had so much fun enjoying our paddling pool today! With the hot weather, we spent some time splashing, playing and cooling off in the shade, helping everyone stay comfortable while making lots of happy memories. A huge thank you to all our families for sending in swimwear, towels and sun cream – your support helped make today such a success.

A Wonderful Performance at Thornington Theatre! Yesterday, our talented school handbell group travelled to Thorington Theatre to perform as part of the Consortium Trust's 10-year celebration. Our pupils gave a fantastic performance and were impeccable ambassadors for our school. They demonstrated confidence, teamwork, and musical talent, and we couldn't be any prouder of everything they achieved. A huge thank you to Howard for generously volunteering his time to teach our pupils this wonderful skill. His enthusiasm and dedication have given the children a fantastic opportunity to learn something new, and we are delighted that he will be continuing to support our enrichment programme next year, allowing even more pupils to experience the joy of playing handbells. Well done to all of our handbell playersyou were amazing!

Summer Reading Challenge! Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Kelly, who visited the school to tell the children all about the Summer Library Challenge. Taking part is simple – just sign up at your local library and keep reading throughout the summer holidays! The challenge is a fantastic way to encourage children to continue enjoying books, develop their reading skills, and discover exciting new stories. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. More information will be shared at the upcoming parent and pupil transition meetings. Happy reading, everyone!

Sharks Conclude Their Study of the Kingdom of Benin To conclude our study of the Kingdom of Benin, the Sharks explored the highs and lows of the civilisation following its Golden Age. The children identified and examined key events from the early 1800s, when civil wars began to weaken the empire, through to the so-called 'Benin Massacre' of 1897, when Britain seized control of the kingdom. Using a living graph, the Sharks charted these events and considered whether they were 'good for Benin' or 'bad for Benin'. This encouraged thoughtful discussion about the impact of historical events and how they shaped the future of the kingdom. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to apply their historical knowledge, evaluate significance, and deepen their understanding of this fascinating African civilisation.

Helping Winterton in Bloom! Today, Miss Williams took a group of children to support Winterton in Bloom by planting lots of beautiful flowers in the boat on the village green. It was an absolute pleasure to be involved in making Winterton look so colourful and welcoming. The children worked hard and were proud to play their part in helping to brighten up our community with such a wonderful display of flowers. A huge thank you to Winterton in Bloom for organising this fantastic opportunity and for all they do to make our village look so beautiful. If you're out walking near the green with your child, please consider taking a watering can and giving the plants a drink, especially during this warm, sunny weather. Every little bit helps keep the flowers looking their best for everyone to enjoy! Well done to all the children who took part!

Inspired by The Blue Rider! Following our study of The Blue Rider artist group, and in particular the works of Kandinsky and the Delaunays, the Sharks have been comparing their artistic styles and exploring what makes their artwork so distinctive. Using what they learned about colour, shape, pattern, and composition, the children then created their own pieces inspired by these famous artists. They carefully considered how to incorporate elements of each artist's style while adding their own creative ideas. We hope you enjoy looking at our interpretations of The Blue Rider movement. We are incredibly proud of the creativity, imagination, and artistic skills the Sharks have demonstrated throughout this project!

Congratulations to our children who achieved Learning Characteristic of the Week and Citizen of the Week certificates. In Thursday's Assembly, Mrs Waters presented these certificates to children, who have been chosen by their class teacher, for either excellent progress in a particular subject or for displaying one of our Learning Characteristics. During this assembly, we also celebrated good attendance and sporting achievements. Well done everyone!
